Charles Antonas · French teacher since 2014

You understand French. Let’s get it out of your head and into the conversation.

I coach adults at A2–B2 who follow a lot but freeze, translate or go quiet when it is their turn to speak. One to one, online, wherever you live.

Sound familiar?

You know more French than you can use.

  1. You know the word. It arrives five seconds too late.

You follow the meaning, but your reply comes after the conversation has moved on.

  2. You build the sentence in English first.

Then you translate it, check the grammar, and lose the moment.

  3. Prepared topics are fine. Questions are not.

One unexpected follow-up and the vocabulary you know disappears.

  4. You always say the same safe things.

You keep it simple, even when you have something more precise to say.

How it works

Four steps, and you decide at each one.

  1. Free Fluency Check

Seven minutes online. You get a likely speaking profile and three things to practise. Optional, but a good warm-up.

  2. Free trial lesson · 45 min

A real lesson with me on video, free. You see how I teach; I hear where your French slows down in your real situations.

  3. Feedback and recommendation

At the end of the lesson: what is blocking you, what to practise first, and which format makes sense — if any.

  4. A program, if it fits

Your choice, with no pressure. If you go ahead, I send the invoice and we plan your sessions.

A note from me

You do not need another platform. You need someone listening.

I have taught French since 2014, and I still love the moment a learner surprises themselves: the answer comes out before they had time to translate it.

My work is simple to describe. I listen to where you hesitate, tell you what actually matters, and give you another chance to try — with better tools each time. You work with me directly, not with a rotating team.

FAQ

Questions people ask before booking

How does the free trial lesson work?

You book a 45-minute slot and we meet on video. We spend a few minutes on your goals, then about thirty minutes on real practice — conversation and short speaking tasks linked to your situation, with live corrections. In the last ten minutes I tell you what is blocking you, what to practise first, and which format would make sense, if any. It is free, there is one per person, and there is no obligation to continue.

Is this for complete beginners?

No. My programs are designed for adults from a solid A2 level to B2. If you are a complete beginner, I’ll be honest: they are probably not the right starting point.

Are sessions entirely in French?

Practice happens in French. I use English for a short explanation when it saves time or prevents confusion, then we go straight back to French.

Will eight weeks make me fluent?

No, and nobody responsible can promise that. The aim is a change you can hear: faster retrieval, longer answers, more flexible reactions in the situations that matter to you.

How do I pay?

The trial lesson is free: no payment details are asked. Programs are paid in euros, by PayPal or bank transfer, once we have agreed the program fits you. Bank details are only sent privately with the invoice.

Where are lessons available?

Online, internationally. Time-zone compatibility is confirmed with you before anything is scheduled.

The practical side

Payment, lessons and lateness

Payment
Payment in euros. The trial lesson is free and no payment details are asked. Programs are paid by PayPal or bank transfer once enrolment is confirmed. Bank details are only sent privately with your invoice.
Where lessons happen
Lessons normally take place on Charles’s private video-learning platform. If an exceptional technical problem occurs, the lesson may be moved to Microsoft Teams.
Lateness and missed lessons
If a student arrives late, the lesson still ends at the scheduled time. If the student has not joined by the halfway point of the booked session, the lesson is considered missed.
